Rosuvastatin can be used for lowering high cholesterol levels and triglycerides in certain patients. It also increases high-density lipoprotein (HDL, "good") levels of cholesterol. It is also utilized to slow atherosclerosis (narrowing with the arteries) in patients with good blood cholesterol. It can be used as well as a suitable diet. Rosuvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, often known as a "statin." It works by reducing the creation of certain fatty substances in your body, including cholesterol.
