INDICATIONS
Zantac is employed for treating certain problems that cause the body to produce excessive stomach acid (eg, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome). It is also employed to treat ulcers with the small intestine which may have not answered other treatment. It may be used as a short-term substitute for oral ranitidine, in patients who will be incapable of take medicine by mouth. Zantac can be an H2-receptor blocker. It works by blocking the action of histamine in the stomach. This cuts down on quantity of acid the stomach makes. Reducing stomach acid helps to reduce heartburn, heal irritation in the esophagus, and heal ulcers in the stomach or intestines.
