INDICATIONS
Coumadin can be used for treating and preventing harmful clots that will happen in the veins (venous thrombosis), within the lungs (pulmonary embolism), with a kind of abnormal heartbeat (atrial fibrillation), or following a heart valve replacement. Coumadin can also be accustomed to reduce the likelihood of stroke as well as other problems in patients who may have had heart disease. Coumadin is an anticoagulant. It works by blocking the synthesis of certain clotting factors. Without these clotting factors, blood clots can't seem to form.
